Gwadar Airport Historic Opening: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang virtually inaugurated the New Gwadar International Airport on October 14, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. During the virtual inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to China for its unwavering support and termed the completion of the airport as a “gift from China.” He highlighted that this project is a testament to the strong bilateral ties and the mutual commitment to fostering economic growth and development. “The completion of Gwadar International Airport is a gift from China,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Premier Li Qiang

The inauguration ceremony also witnessed the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and China, aimed at enhancing cooperation in industry, commerce, and agriculture.
