Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders Begin Thursday After Delay

Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders

Nintendo has officially announced the start of preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, April 24, after a two-week delay due to uncertainties surrounding recently proposed U.S. tariffs. The long-anticipated console will be available at major retailers and is set to launch on June 5, 2025.

Pricing and Bundle Options

The base model of the Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $449.99, while a special $499.99 bundle includes the new launch title Mario Kart World. Despite the earlier delay, Nintendo confirmed that the pricing for the console and its major titles will remain unchanged.

However, the company did acknowledge slight price increases for accessories, which are being adjusted in response to the evolving tariff landscape.

Where to Preorder

Preorders opened at midnight ET on April 24 via Best Buy, Walmart, and Target, with GameStop following at 11 a.m. ET online and during store hours for in-person reservations. Given expected high demand and limited initial stock, customers are urged to place their orders early to avoid missing the launch window.

Upgraded Features and Hardware

The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with significant hardware upgrades, including:

  • A 7.9-inch LCD screen with 1080p resolution and HDR support
  • Nvidia graphics enhancements with ray tracing and AI upscaling
  • Enhanced Joy-Con 2 controllers
  • 256GB internal storage with microSD Express support
  • 4K HDR output when docked

These improvements offer a richer and more immersive gaming experience in handheld and docked modes.
