Changan has entered the pickup truck segment for the first time, and it did not go the usual diesel route. The company has launched the Nevo Hunter in Pakistan, a mid-size pickup that runs on a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) system instead of a conventional engine.
The truck was first shown at the PAPS event last November under the Deepal K50 Hunter badge. It now arrives in Pakistan as the Nevo Hunter, priced at Rs 1.09 crore, going head-to-head with diesel stalwarts like the Toyota Revo and JAC T9.
The Launch
Changan officially launched the Nevo Hunter in the Pakistani market on August 20, 2026. It’s the brand’s first pickup truck in the country and is being marketed as the world’s first mass-produced REEV pickup truck. The same vehicle is already sold in China, the Philippines, and Thailand, and Pakistan is now the newest market to get it.
Build and Design
The Nevo Hunter uses a body-on-frame chassis with a 4×4 setup, aiming squarely at buyers who want off-road capability without giving up daily usability. Changan says the front design is inspired by a hunting leopard, and the styling leans aggressive with black cladding, minimal chrome, and a body-colored grille.
Market Impact
Diesel has ruled the pickup segment in Pakistan for decades. The Nevo Hunter is one of the first serious attempts to bring electrified power to that space, offering instant torque and a claimed combined range that rivals a full tank of diesel. If it finds buyers, it could pressure established players to speed up their own electrification plans.
Specifications
Performance
The Hunter runs on two electric motors, one at each axle, with a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine acting purely as a generator.

Exterior & Interior
The Hunter measures 5,380 x 1,980 x 1,875 mm, making it larger than the Toyota Revo. Inside, it swaps the typical truck-cabin feel for something closer to a Deepal EV, with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 7.5-inch digital cluster, ventilated front seats, and a 50W wireless charger. Physical AC controls remain, but most other functions run through the touchscreen or steering wheel.
Safety
Six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, lane departure warning, and Hill Start Assist are standard. Notably, there’s no ADAS package. That is unlikely to bother buyers, since lane-keeping systems tend to struggle on Pakistan’s inconsistent lane markings anyway.

Diesel vs REEV
Diesel pickups have long dominated this segment on reliability and running costs. The Nevo Hunter’s REEV setup tries to remove the usual EV objection, range anxiety, by pairing electric drive with a petrol generator. Whether Pakistani buyers trust a new powertrain type on a truck they’ll use for work is the real test here, and rivals will be watching sales numbers closely before reacting.
Our Take
Changan is making a major bet with the Nevo Hunter. It’s a fully-loaded, tech-heavy pickup with genuine off-road hardware, wrapped in a powertrain nobody else in this segment is offering. At Rs 1.09 crore, it isn’t cheap, but it undercuts what a similarly equipped diesel rival with this much torque and this much tech would likely cost. The bigger question is whether buyers are ready to trust a new kind of powertrain in a truck built for hard work.
