Suzuki e Vitara Electric SUV: Suzuki Motor Corporation has unveiled its first mass-production battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, the e Vitara, in Milan, Italy. Production will commence at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India in spring 2025, with sales expected to begin in various countries, including Europe, India, and Japan, around summer 2025.
The e Vitara is larger than the hybrid Vitara, offering extra interior space with a wheelbase of 2,700mm and a length of 4,275mm. While it’s heavier than the hybrid version, this EV is designed for better acceleration and can travel up to 400 km on a single charge, depending on the battery size. This model marks Suzuki’s first global strategic battery electric vehicle (BEV), embodying the theme of “High-Tech & Adventure.” The design of the e Vitara reflects this theme, blending the advanced feel of a modern BEV with the strength and durability of an SUV, inspiring a sense of adventure and exploration.
Exterior
The exterior is inspired by the Suzuki eVX concept, with bold wheel arches, a sloping roofline, and 18- to 19-inch alloy wheels. While maintaining its rugged appearance, it has a sophisticated look suitable for urban use. Inside, the SUV gets a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, along with amenities like climate control, a floating center console, and multiple charging ports.

Interior
The e Vitara’s interior offers a comfortable and high-tech driving experience by design. It features a spacious cabin with advanced infotainment and connectivity options, ensuring that drivers and passengers stay connected and entertained on the go. The use of high-quality materials and thoughtful design elements further enhances the overall driving experience, making the e Vitara a compelling choice for those looking to embrace electric mobility without compromising on comfort or style.

e Vitara uses the new “Heartect-e” electric vehicle platform jointly developed by Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu. It comes in two sizes: 49 kWh in the entry-level model and 61 kWh in the higher versions. A 49 kWh battery powers a 142-horsepower front-wheel drive motor that provides a range of about 200 miles. The top-of-the-line version equips two motors and four-wheel drive, producing 181 hp, and includes Suzuki’s AllGrip-e system to handle rougher terrain. Charging is efficient and the e Vitara supports fast charging up to 150 kW.
This allows the battery to reach 70% from 15% in about 30 minutes. e Vitara’s rear seat space and 306-litre boot may not live up to expectations for long trips, however, as the high floor may be uncomfortable for taller passengers. In addition, the trunk capacity is less than other SUVs in its class. Toyota will also share the model and release a version as part of its bZ EV range. Made in India, production of the e Vitara will begin in spring 2025, with prices expected to start at around £30,000.
