The OnePlus 16 is official. OnePlus launched it in China on October 12, 2026, with a 9,000mAh battery, a 200MP main camera, and Qualcomm’s fastest phone chip yet.
There’s a catch, though. It costs a lot more than the OnePlus 15, and it’s not confirmed for the US, Europe, or India. Here’s everything we know, in one place.
What Happened?
OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 16 at an event in China on October 12. Pre-orders opened right away. Sales started October 13 at 10:00 AM China time through Oppo’s online store.
This is a China launch only for now. OnePlus said earlier this year that it will stop launching new phones in North America and Europe. The OnePlus 15 was the last flagship it sold in those markets.

OnePlus 16 Specs
Performance
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. It’s built on a 2nm process, and Qualcomm says peak clock speeds cross 5GHz for the first time on a phone chip. It’s paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, according to Smartprix.
OnePlus also upgraded the cooling. The company says its new Glacier vapor chamber is 40% better than before. That’s OnePlus’s own claim, so wait for independent tests.
Display
The screen is a 6.78-inch flat OLED from BOE. OnePlus calls it the first phone with a native system-wide 165Hz refresh rate. It goes up to 185Hz in supported games.
A OnePlus product manager said the company kept 165Hz as the default for frame stability. The 185Hz mode is only for tuned gaming titles.
Battery and Charging
This is the big upgrade. The OnePlus 16 packs a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, up from 7,300mAh on the OnePlus 15.
Charging is rated at 100W wired and 50W wireless. OnePlus claims 80% in 37 minutes on the wire. It also says the battery should hold above 80% health for at least five years. Both numbers come from the company.
One trade-off: reports note the wired speed is about 20W lower than the OnePlus 15’s.
Cameras
| Camera | Specs |
| Main | 200MP, 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/1.6, OIS |
| Ultrawide | 50MP, f/2.0, 116° field of view |
| Telephoto | 50MP, 3x, 1/1.95-inch sensor, f/2.6, OIS |
| Front | 50MP, f/2.0 |
The telephoto sensor is much bigger than last year’s. OnePlus also promises full-resolution 200MP shots and a wide XPAN-style mode at a 65:24 aspect ratio.
Design and Colors
The OnePlus 16 comes in three colors: Tomorrow’s Starlight, Dark Forest, and Mars Masterpiece. Starlight has LED lighting on the back that can show a large “16.”

OnePlus 16 Price
OnePlus set launch prices for China that run from October 12 to November 13. Regular prices apply after that.
| Variant | Launch price | Regular price |
| 12GB / 256GB | CNY 5,699 (about $850) | CNY 5,999 (about $896) |
| 12GB / 512GB | CNY 6,499 | CNY 6,799 |
| 16GB / 512GB | CNY 7,199 | CNY 7,499 |
| 16GB / 1TB | CNY 8,199 | CNY 8,499 |
China’s government subsidies can lower these further, depending on local policy. For the base model, that can mean about CNY 5,199.
The cheaper 8GB model from earlier leaks didn’t show up.
Why the jump? The OnePlus 15 launched in China at CNY 3,999. The OnePlus 16 starts roughly CNY 1,700 higher at launch pricing. Chinese outlets blame rising memory and chip costs. The iQOO 16 starts at CNY 5,999, so OnePlus is pricing right alongside its rivals.
For reference, the OnePlus 15 sold globally for $899.
Is the OnePlus 16 Coming to the US or India?
US and Europe: No. OnePlus confirmed it is ending new phone launches in North America and Europe. Existing customers will keep getting support.
India: Not announced. OnePlus hasn’t confirmed an India launch or Indian pricing. According to tipsters, the OnePlus 16 may skip India, and the OnePlus 16R could be the top OnePlus phone there instead. Treat that as a rumor. If it did launch in India, the China price converts to roughly ₹86,000 before any local changes.
Importing from China is possible, but you’d lose local warranty and may run into network band and software differences.
What Else Launched?
OnePlus also showed new accessories: a 10,000mAh power bank with a display, a small magnetic cooler, and an aramid-fiber magnetic case.

Why It Matters
OnePlus used to be the “flagship killer.” Top specs, lower price. The OnePlus 16 has the specs. The price gap is now much smaller.
The bigger story is where it’s sold. If you live in the US or Europe, this is the first OnePlus flagship you can’t just buy. That makes the OnePlus 15 the last one OnePlus sold there.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Huge 9,000mAh battery
- 200MP main camera and a bigger telephoto sensor
- Fastest Snapdragon chip yet
- 165Hz display with 185Hz game mode
Cons
- Much higher price than the OnePlus 15
- Wired charging is slower than last year
- No confirmed launch in the US, Europe, or India
- Software is ColorOS 17 in China, which differs from what global buyers know
Who Should Buy It?
- Mobile gamers who want top performance and a 185Hz screen
- Battery-first buyers who hate charging mid-day
- Chinese-market buyers who can get it with local support
If you’re in the US or India, wait. See whether OnePlus announces a local version, or look at the 16R if it arrives.
Industry Impact
OnePlus isn’t alone in raising prices. Memory and chip costs are pushing flagship prices up across the industry. The OnePlus 16 is another sign that cheaper flagships are getting harder to find.
It also shows a changing OnePlus. The brand is putting its best phone in its home market first and narrowing where it sells.
Final Thoughts
On paper, the OnePlus 16 is OnePlus’s strongest phone ever. The battery and camera upgrades are real. The price jump is real too.
For most readers outside China, the question isn’t whether it’s good. It’s whether you can buy it at all. We’ll update this page when OnePlus confirms anything for India or other markets.
