Veteran Pakistani comedian and actor Javed Kodu, known for his iconic performances in television and stage plays, was laid to rest on Sunday near his residence in Singhpura, Lahore. The 63-year-old artist had been battling prolonged illness following injuries sustained in a road accident years ago.
A Life Dedicated to Laughter
Javed Kodu, whose real name was Javed Iqbal, was a beloved figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry. Despite facing physical limitations due to his short stature, Kodu rose to fame with his impeccable comic timing and unique presence. His popularity soared through appearances in hit television dramas like “Ainak Wala Jin” and “Ashiyana”, where his roles brought joy to countless households.
Kodu also had a notable presence in Lahore’s vibrant stage drama scene, working alongside renowned actors and comedians. Over the years, his contribution helped shape the golden era of Pakistani stage comedy.
Battling Illness Since 2016
According to his family, Javed Kodu had been suffering from neuro-related health issues since 2016, which stemmed from a serious road accident. Although his health declined in recent months, fans and colleagues continued offering prayers, love, and unwavering support throughout his struggle.
“He had been confronted with health issues since 2016 as he suffered some neuro problems after injuries in a road accident,” a family member shared.
Tributes Pour In
His funeral prayers were offered at 2:30 PM in Singhpura and attended by fellow artists, relatives, and admirers. Fans and colleagues mourned on social media, remembering Kodu as a kind-hearted soul devoted to spreading joy through comedy.
“His short height made him popular among his TV and film audience,” remarked a fellow artist.
