Lahore Qalandars etched their name in the history books with a record-breaking run chase in the final of HBL Pakistan Super League Season 10 (PSL X), defeating Quetta Gladiators to lift their third PSL title. In front of a roaring Lahore crowd, Qalandars chased down a mammoth target of 202 runs, the highest successful chase in a T20 league final.
Kusal Perera Anchors the Chase
Veteran Sri Lankan opener Kusal Perera, playing his first PSL season, delivered when it mattered the most. His unbeaten 62 off 31 balls, decorated with four fours and five sixes, laid the foundation for Qalandars’ record pursuit. Despite wickets falling around him early on, Perera kept calm and punished loose deliveries to control the required run rate.
“Staying calm and focused was key. I’m thrilled to have contributed to this historic win,” said Perera after being named Player of the Match.
Sikandar Raza’s Dramatic Arrival and Finish
Adding drama to the already tense finale, Sikandar Raza, who had been playing a Test match in England, landed in Lahore just minutes before the toss. Yet, the Zimbabwean all-rounder showed no signs of fatigue. He smashed 22 not out off just 7 balls, including the winning runs that sealed a dramatic victory for Qalandars with one ball to spare.
“This is madness! From a Test match to hitting the winning runs in a PSL final — it’s surreal,” Raza shared in a post-match interview.

Afridi Leads from the Front
Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi once again demonstrated his leadership prowess as a bowler and captain. Despite being hit for boundaries early on, he took the crucial wicket of Jason Roy, who was looking dangerous for Quetta. Afridi finished with 1/30 in his four overs and made key bowling changes that helped restrict Gladiators to 201/9.
“This victory is a testament to our team’s resilience and determination. Chasing 202 in a final is no small feat,” said Afridi.
Quetta Gladiators Fall Just Short
Batting first, Quetta Gladiators posted an imposing total of 201/9, thanks to Roy’s quickfire 74 and contributions from Sarfaraz Ahmed and Iftikhar Ahmed. However, their bowlers couldn’t contain the onslaught from Perera and Raza in the final overs.
