Pakistan is gearing up to launch 5G services in seven major cities, marking a major milestone in its journey toward digital transformation. The announcement was made by Federal IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, who emphasized the importance of strengthening connectivity for economic growth and innovation.
The Cities and Expected Timeline
While the government has not officially disclosed the exact cities, it is widely expected that Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad will be among the first to benefit. The rollout will take place in phases, starting with these urban hubs before expanding nationwide. Spectrum auctions for key frequency bands, including 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 3500 MHz, are already under consideration, with pilot deployments anticipated soon.

The arrival of 5G is set to bring faster internet speeds, low latency, and high capacity, supporting industries such as education, health, agriculture, and e-commerce.
