PTA plans to launch DIRBS in Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan on September 1, 2023, for device regulation. The aim of this system is to stop the use of smuggled and stolen phones in these regions.
PTA has revealed its plan to introduce DIRBS in GB and AJK on September 1, 2023, and has finalized preparations for implementation. PTA officials stated that the aim of launching this system in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan is to stop the use of smuggled and stolen phones. Citizens have received information about the status of their devices through SMS.

When asked, Spokesperson PTA said, “DIRBS is launched and the process for pairing devices is underway, after 1st September no phone will be registered unless FBR tax is paid. After pairing all available devices with their numbers, the registration process will start.

After the AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan Councils approved it, PTA officials adopted the DIRBS system and implemented it with the federal government.

People widely use smuggled and stolen phones in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. A large number of citizens from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan used to insert SCO SIMs in unregistered mobile phones. Therefore, the stakeholders decided to integrate SCO with the DIRBS system, and the Federal Cabinet approved this integration.
