The Sindh government has approved the Sindh Police ASI Recruitment of 2,000 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) for the police investigation wing, aiming to fortify investigative capacity and enhance both crime control and the justice delivery system.

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, which was attended by the IG Sindh, the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), the Secretary for Services, and other senior officials.
Chief Secretary Shah emphasized the importance of enhancing investigative capacity, stating:
“This initiative will enhance the police’s ability to conduct thorough investigations, ensure quicker justice, and help curb crime.”
He further instructed officials to remove any obstacles in the recruitment process without delay.
IG Sindh also supported the decision, noting that the addition of ASIs would elevate investigation quality and ensure stricter action against criminal elements. “Improved investigations will ensure timely justice and stronger action against criminal elements.”
Broader Context & Strategic Impact
This recruitment drive joins other measures taken by the Sindh Police, including the Counter Terrorism Department’s updated “Grey Book”—now listing 81 most-wanted suspects to aid identification and capture efforts across the province.

In addition to creating these new ASI posts, the government plans to surrender 2,154 existing positions to accommodate them, and reallocate 1,038 personnel—including SPs, DSPs, inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables—from non-investigation to investigation units in Karachi. This restructuring aims to enhance investigative capacity without incurring additional financial burden.
