After a month of beta testing, Apple has officially released iOS 18.3 for all iPhone users. This update brings several new features, improvements, and bug fixes to enhance the user experience. Let’s dive into what’s new in iOS 18.3.
Notification Updates
Apple Intelligence Notification Summary Changes One of the significant changes in iOS 18.3 is the update to Apple Intelligence notification summaries. Following multiple complaints from news outlets, including the BBC, Apple has temporarily disabled notification summaries for the News & Entertainment category of apps. This decision comes after instances of incorrect summaries being generated by Apple Intelligence. Additionally, notification summaries are now displayed in italicized text on the Lock Screen to distinguish them from regular notifications. Users can also disable notification summaries for an app directly from the Lock Screen or Notification Center.

Visual Upgrades
Visual Intelligence Upgrades iOS 18.3 introduces new features to Visual Intelligence for iPhone 16 users. Users can now add events to their Calendar app directly from a poster or flyer by taking a picture of it. Visual Intelligence will recognize the date and time of the event and add it to the calendar. Additionally, Visual Intelligence can identify a broader range of plants and animals.
Default Enabled
Apple Intelligence Enabled by Default With iOS 18.3, Apple Intelligence is now enabled by default for users new or upgrading to this version. This means that the features are no longer opt-in but rather opt-out. Users can disable Apple Intelligence by going to the Settings app, choosing “Apple Intelligence & Siri,” and toggling off the Apple Intelligence option.
iOS 18.3 Update: Other Improvements iOS 18.3 also includes several smaller changes and improvements. The Calculator app now allows users to repeat the last mathematical operation by tapping the equals sign again. The update also fixes issues where the keyboard might disappear during typed Siri requests and resolves audio playback problems in Apple Music.
