In a significant move towards becoming an ‘everything app,’ X is developing a new video conferencing tool called X Conference. This feature aims to compete with established platforms like Zoom and Google Meet, offering users a seamless way to conduct group video calls directly within the X ecosystem.

Chris Park, an X employee, recently shared insights about the internal testing of X Conference. According to Park, the tool is still in its early stages but already supports basic multi-person video conferencing. While it currently lacks some advanced features found in Zoom or Google Meet, X Conference is set to receive several upgrades soon. These upgrades include the ability to pin speakers and enhanced notifications, making it a more robust option for users.

App researcher Nima Owji also provided additional details about the X Conference. Owji revealed that the platform is expected to support spatial audio and offer built-in captions. These features enhance the user experience, making video calls more immersive and accessible. However, it remains to be seen whether these additions will be enough to differentiate X Conference in a crowded market.

Despite the excitement from X employees and the promising features, there are still questions about the demand for another video conferencing tool. With many established players already dominating the market, X must offer unique and compelling features to attract users. It is also unclear when or if X plans to roll out this feature to all users.

In conclusion, X Conference represents a bold step for X as it continues to expand its offerings. While it has the potential to become a formidable competitor to platforms like Zoom and Google Meet, its success will depend on the execution and user adoption.
