Pakistan is preparing to roll out its first-ever National Esports Policy, marking a significant milestone for the country’s rapidly expanding gaming community. The initiative, led by Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, aims to formalize and professionalize esports through an official National Esports Federation.
This new framework is designed to recognize esports as a legitimate profession, opening opportunities for players, developers, and gaming entrepreneurs. According to government estimates, nearly 60 million Pakistanis are directly or indirectly involved in gaming, making it one of the country’s fastest-growing digital industries.
Goals of the National Esports Policy
The policy will focus on creating structured opportunities for young gamers by offering training, funding, and international exposure. It will also provide legal and financial frameworks to promote local game development, esports events, and collaborations with global gaming organizations.
Khan stated,
“Around 60 million Pakistanis are directly or indirectly involved in esports, and the new policy will also support game developers and digital innovators.”
This initiative supports Pakistan’s Digital Youth Empowerment Vision, creating sustainable digital career opportunities and growth paths for the nation’s youth.

Boosting Recognition and Investment
Pakistan’s National Esports Federation aims to attract local and global investors, driving sponsorships, infrastructure growth, and gaming industry development. The federation will also regulate tournaments, certifications, and esports education programs to align Pakistan’s standards with global practices.
Esports star “Arslan Ash” Siddique, a multi-time Tekken world champion, has showcased Pakistan’s remarkable gaming talent globally. The new policy could pave the way for more players to gain recognition internationally.

While the move has been widely welcomed, challenges remain — including access to resources, consistent internet quality, and financial backing. If implemented effectively, Pakistan’s National Esports Policy could make the country a leading regional hub for gaming and innovation.
