Pakistan’s Power Division has officially launched the “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” mobile application—an App to Track Electricity—to revolutionize how electricity consumption is recorded.
Consumers photograph their meter on a specified date each month and submit the readings directly through the app, which uses them for billing.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, inaugurating the app on June 29, 2025, praised it as a “revolutionary technological reform” that would benefit households nationwide,from Karachi to Peshawar—by enhancing billing accuracy and curbing overbilling.
Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmed Leghari added that the app shifts responsibility from meter readers to consumers, reducing reading errors, especially protecting those in the subsidised category who lose their benefits due to minor mistakes.
