Robotics companies are rapidly moving from industrial automation to household assistance. Recent breakthroughs show that humanoid robots are no longer confined to science fiction. Figure CEO Brett Adcock highlighted the progress by stating:
“The demo underlines how far humanoid robots have come in handling everyday household tasks.”
Industry Momentum
The push toward household robotics isn’t limited to Figure AI. Competitions like the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing have shown robots attempting chores such as cleaning, moving boxes, and picking up trash. Some models performed remarkably well, completing cleaning tasks in under nine minutes. Meanwhile, companies like 1X Technologies are developing lightweight humanoids—such as NEO and Neo Gamma—designed specifically for domestic settings, capable of carrying up to 44 pounds and learning through user guidance.

Challenges Ahead
Despite progress, experts caution that widespread household adoption remains years away. The biggest hurdles include:
Dexterity: Handling fragile objects with the same precision as humans.

Cost: Making humanoid robots affordable for average households.
Reliability: Guaranteeing consistent performance without frequent breakdowns.
