The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has officially extended revised winter school timings across the province in response to the ongoing cold wave. According to the latest notification, all public and private schools will continue operating under the adjusted schedule until February 4.

The decision aims to safeguard students from harsh early-morning weather while ensuring that academic activities continue without major disruption.

Revised Timings to Remain in Effect

Under the extended winter schedule, schools will start at 9:00 am, while closing times will remain unchanged. These revised timings apply to all educational institutions across Sindh, including government and private schools.

The winter timings were initially introduced on January 10 and were scheduled to end on January 26. However, due to persistently low temperatures, authorities decided to prolong the arrangement.

Decision Taken Amid Intensifying Cold Wave

Officials stated that the extension was approved on the directives of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah after reviewing weather conditions across the province. Early-morning cold has posed health concerns for students, particularly those who commute long distances to school.

Education authorities emphasized that the move is a preventive measure aimed at minimizing health risks while avoiding full school closures.

Relief for Students and Parents

Parents and school administrations have largely welcomed the decision, calling it a practical step during the winter season. Delayed start times help students avoid extreme cold during morning hours and reduce commuting difficulties.

Schools have been directed to ensure the smooth implementation of the revised schedule and keep parents informed of any further changes.

Further Updates Expected if Weather Persists

The education department has indicated that it will continue monitoring weather conditions. If the cold wave intensifies or persists beyond early February, additional adjustments may be announced.

For now, schools across Sindh will continue following the revised winter timings until further notice.
