Apple has finally entered the smart display market. On October 13, the company announced Apple HomeView, a 7-inch home hub built around a new version of Siri called Siri AI. It costs $299 and ships on November 13.
This is Apple’s answer to the Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub. According to CNBC, it is also the first non-iPhone launch under new CEO John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook in early September.
Here is everything you need to know, including the price, colors, features, and the one big region where you cannot buy it.
Apple HomeView Launch
Apple unveiled HomeView at its “Welcome home” event, alongside a new Apple TV 4K, the HomePod mini 2, and a lineup of smart home accessories called Apple Home Collection.
HomeView is a screen-and-speaker hub that sits on a counter, nightstand, or side table. A separate wall-mounted model is also available. Apple says it brings music, FaceTime calls, and smart home controls into one device.
Key Details
- Display: 7-inch Liquid Retina with True Tone
- Chip: Apple A18
- Brightness: Adjusts automatically from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits for nightstand use
- Colors (tabletop): Silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray
- Colors (wall-mounted): Space gray and silver only
- Users: Recognizes up to six people by face, each with a personal Home Screen
- Audio: Two full-range drivers in the display, plus a down-firing woofer and two passive radiators in the base
- Software: Siri AI arrives in beta with HomeView software version 27.2
The screen changes what it shows based on how far you stand from it. Stand across the room, and you get simple info. Step closer, and you get more detail.
Smarter, Personalized Siri
Siri has trailed rivals for years. HomeView is Apple’s showcase for a rebuilt Siri that Apple says is more conversational, aware of what is on screen, and able to answer broad world-knowledge questions.
Even if you do not own an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, you still get Siri AI’s general knowledge and conversation skills. If you do own one, HomeView can pull personal context like Calendar and Messages.
Apple says Greg Joswiak, its senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, described the goal as a device the whole household shares while still feeling personal to each user.

Entertainment and Calls
HomeView plays Apple Music with animated album art and lyrics. It also supports Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Apple TV, and compatible third-party audio and video apps. Handoff lets you move a song from your iPhone by holding the phone near the screen.
FaceTime uses Center Stage to keep you in frame as you move around. Intercom lets you send a quick message to one room or the whole house, reaching HomePod speakers, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
Smart Home Control
You can view cameras, change the thermostat, control lights, lock doors, and close blinds by touch or voice. With a supported iCloud+ plan, compatible cameras can recognize people, pets, packages, and vehicles. HomeView can also listen for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and alert your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.
In the kitchen, it can turn web recipes into step-by-step instructions with hands-free timers.
Privacy
Apple says camera and microphone data is processed in protected areas of the A18 chip called Secure Enclaves, which the software, apps, user, and Apple cannot access. Personal content like Messages and Calendar only appears when your face is recognized, and your paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and recently unlocked. Siri requests can run on-device or through Private Cloud Compute.

Availability
Pre-orders started October 13, with sales beginning Friday, November 13, in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and India. Singapore pre-orders open October 15, and South Africa sales go through Apple Authorized Resellers.
Siri AI on HomeView supports English in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Canadian French is coming later through a free update.
HomeView is not on sale in the European Union. Apple says Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU and that it is working with regulators to find a path forward.
Official Statements
Apple says HomeView is made to be central to the home and personal to everyone in it. The company also says the enclosure uses 100 percent recycled aluminum and that the product supports its goal of being carbon neutral across its footprint by 2030.
Industry Impact
Amazon and Google have owned this category for years. Apple’s pitch is tighter integration with iPhone, stronger privacy, and better audio, all at $299.
There is a catch. According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, as relayed by AppleInsider, HomeView will have a limited set of apps and no App Store at launch. Tom’s Guide also noted it launches without App Store access, which is unusual for Apple.
Apple Home Collection also matters here. The new cameras, thermostats, and lock, made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, start arriving in December, with select items in early 2027.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Strong audio setup for its size
- Face recognition for up to six people
- Deep iPhone, FaceTime, and Home integration
- Privacy-focused design
- Same $299 price for tabletop and wall models
Cons
- No App Store at launch, according to reports
- Wall mounts cost extra
- Siri AI is in beta at launch
- Best features need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad
- Not sold in the EU
Who Should Buy It?
HomeView suits people already living in Apple’s ecosystem who want a kitchen or bedside hub for music, calls, and home controls. If you use Android or rely on many third-party apps, an Echo Show or Nest Hub may fit better for now.
Apple’s Smart Home Gamble
HomeView is Apple’s most serious smart home move in years, and the $299 price is competitive. The real test is Siri AI. If it works well in daily use, HomeView could finally give Apple a strong place in the living room and kitchen.
