Hidden Spotify Features: Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming apps in the world, with over 515 million users and more than 210 million subscribers. It offers a massive library of content featuring over 100 million songs across every conceivable genre and 5 million podcasts.
However, you might not be aware of some of the Hidden Spotify Features that Spotify has to offer. In this article, we will explore six awesome Spotify features that you should try out.
Crossfade and Transitions
If you enjoy listening to songs without abrupt cuts or transitions, you should consider toggling some of Spotify’s playback settings. Go to Preferences and scroll down to “Playback.” One option you might see is “Allow smooth transitions between songs in a playlist.”
Also, you can enable crossfade, which adds a fading effect between the tracks that you’re playing. For example, if you set your crossfade to 5 seconds, track A will start fading out in the last 5 seconds of its runtime while track B is beginning to play.
Sleep Timer
If you want a song to be played for the next few minutes or next few hours till you sleep or just do any other task, then there are more Hidden Spotify Features for you. Play your favorite song, tap the three-dot menu from the top-right corner. Scroll down the drop-down menu and choose Sleep Timer. Select the time after which Spotify should stop playing the song.
Music Discovery
One of Spotify’s biggest strengths as a music streaming service is how easy it is to discover new songs. There are tons of great music discovery features that you can use to augment your current library. One of these features is “Enhance,” which allows you to discover new tracks that might best fit one of your existing playlists. To use it, go to any playlist and tap on the magic wand icon at the top right corner. Spotify will then add up to 30 recommended songs at the end of your playlist.
Another feature is “Discover Weekly,” which gives you a personalized playlist of 30 songs every Monday based on your listening history and preferences. You can also check out “Daily Mixes” and “Release Radar” for more curated playlists based on your favorite genres and artists.
Collaborative and Blended Playlists
Planning to have a road trip soon and want to make sure that your car playlist has something in it for everyone? You can turn any playlist into a group effort by accessing the context menu and toggling “Collaborative playlist.” You can then send the link to your friends, and they can edit, add, and rearrange the tracks there. You’ll also be able to see who added each track to it.
If you want to create a playlist with your significant other or a close friend, you can use the “Blend” feature, which combines your musical tastes into one unique playlist. To use it, go to “Made for You” in the Home tab and tap on “Create Blend.” Then invite your partner or friend to join the blend. Spotify will then generate a custom playlist with songs that both of you like.
Private Listening and Private Playlists
If you want to keep your listening habits private, or if you don’t want to share your guilty pleasures with the world, you can use Spotify’s privacy features. One of these is “Private Session,” which temporarily stops Spotify from sharing your activity with your followers or on social media. To activate it, go to the settings menu and toggle “Private Session.” You can also turn off “Listening Activity” if you don’t want your friends to see what you’re listening to in real-time.
Another feature is “Private Playlist,” which allows you to hide your playlists from other users. To use it, go to any playlist and tap on the three-dot menu. Then select “Make Secret.” You can also make a playlist public or collaborative from the same menu.
