Pakistan Army Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas has achieved a major milestone after being awarded the title of “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” at Australia’s prestigious Royal Military College (RMC) Duntroon. Officials announced the achievement during the commissioning parade held in Canberra on May 5, 2026.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas belongs to PMA 152 Long Course and represented the Pakistan Army during the military training programme at the Australian academy.
Award Recognizes Leadership and Military Excellence
The academy presents the ‘Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet’ award to the top-performing international cadet who demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities, discipline, academic performance, and military capabilities throughout the training programme.
ISPR stated that the honour reflects the professionalism, commitment, and excellence of Pakistan Army officers and cadets at international military institutions. The recognition also highlights Pakistan’s strong military training standards and the capabilities of its young officers on the global stage.
Cadet Arsam Abbas successfully competed against foreign military cadets from multiple countries participating in the training programme at the Australian institution.
Ceremony Held at Royal Military College Duntroon
The passing-out parade took place at the Royal Military College Duntroon in Canberra, Australia. The ceremony was reviewed by Australian Chief of Army Lieutenant General Simon Stuart.
Several senior officials from the Australian Defence Force, members of the diplomatic corps, military representatives, and families of graduating cadets attended the event. Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Australia was also present during the ceremony to witness the achievement of the Pakistani cadet.
Australia recognizes RMC Duntroon as one of its leading military academies and honors it internationally for training army officers from allied and partner countries.
Pakistan and Australia Share Strong Defence Training Relations
Pakistan and Australia have maintained long-standing defence and military training cooperation for many years. Pakistani cadets regularly participate in professional military courses and officer training programmes conducted in Australia.

According to official details, 46 Pakistan Army cadets have graduated from RMC Duntroon since 2009. In addition, seven Pakistan Army officers have served as platoon commanders on the faculty of the military college since 2013. This is reportedly the 14th occasion on which a Pakistani cadet has received the “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” title at the Australian military academy.
