The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced positive news for internet users across Pakistan, confirming that the country’s internet connectivity has been fully restored after recent disruptions.

According to the telecom regulator, the SEA-ME-WE 5 (SMW5) international submarine cable system has been successfully restored. As a result, internet traffic has returned to normal levels, allowing broadband and mobile internet users to access online services without interruptions.

The issue had affected internet connectivity nationwide since Thursday night, causing slower browsing speeds and connectivity problems for many users.

Internet Traffic Back to Normal

PTA stated that all internet traffic is now being routed normally following the successful restoration of the submarine cable.

The authority reassured users that internet services are operating as usual and that network stability has been restored across the country. Restoration expected to enhance browsing, streaming, gaming, conferencing, and other online services previously disrupted during the outage.

Why the Internet Was Slow

Pakistan relies on several international submarine fiber-optic cables to connect with the global internet. Any fault in one of these cables can temporarily affect internet speed and connectivity across the country.

The disruption occurred after an issue with the SEA-ME-WE 5 submarine cable, one of Pakistan’s key international internet gateways. Following repair work, connectivity has now been restored, resolving the slowdown experienced by millions of users.

PTA’s Assurance to Users

PTA has assured internet users that services are now functioning normally and that the restoration of the SMW5 cable has resolved the connectivity issue.

Users previously facing slow speeds or interruptions should now experience normal browsing across major internet providers and mobile networks.

Conclusion

The restoration of the SEA-ME-WE 5 submarine cable brings welcome relief to millions of internet users across Pakistan. International connectivity restored, enabling consumers and businesses to enjoy stable internet services again, free from yesterday’s disruptive interruptions.
